Vigilant Communication

Vigilant Communication Ltd was a public relations company that worked for the tobacco manufacturer Gallaher. It was registered at Companies House in October 1999 and appears to have been dissolved in or after 2002.1
Vigilant was run by Nick Gibbon, who was a director of Sovereign Strategy Europe Ltd, another PR and lobbying company, between 2005 and 2009.2
The agenda for a meeting of the Tobacco Manufacturers’ Association‘s Campaign Group, dated 5 January 2001, lists Gibbon attending on behalf of Gallaher.3
Although the Companies House register says that the company was established in 1999, a Gallaher memo from 1993 about No Smoking Day was copied to “Mr N Gibbon, Vigilant”.4
